Typing Exercises for Beginners

Beginner typing exercises should be simple enough to repeat without frustration. The goal is to build reliable movement, not to chase a high score immediately.

Exercise 1: home-row words

Practise short words that mainly use home-row letters. Keep your fingers close to their starting position and return after each key.

Exercise 2: slow sentence copying

Copy one short sentence at a comfortable pace. Focus on clean spacing, capital letters, and punctuation.

Exercise 3: accuracy challenge

Type for one minute with the goal of staying as accurate as possible. Ignore speed until your mistakes decrease.

Exercise 4: problem-key practice

Choose two or three keys that often cause mistakes. Type simple patterns using those keys, then use them in full words.

After practising, take a 1 minute typing test to see whether your accuracy is improving.
